E-sim Safety And Features

Gopal Vittal, head of Airtel, is promoting the adoption of e-SIMs for their security and convenience benefits.

Vittal mentions that e-SIMs are harder to remove from stolen devices, making lost smartphones easier to track.

"eSIM" stands for embedded SIM, integrated directly onto a device's motherboard, eliminating the need for a separate SIM card slot.

Airtel, Jio, and Vi are leading providers of eSIM support in India for both Android and iOS users.

eSIMs function similar to traditional SIM cards, storing subscriber information and network credentials.

Airtel and Jio support eSIM for both prepaid and postpaid plans, while Vi offers eSIM only for postpaid plans.

✅ Advantages of eSIM

1️⃣ Enhanced physical security as eSIMs cannot be removed.

2️⃣ Robust authentication and encryption for resistance against hacking.

3️⃣ Remote management, control, and provisioning without physical interaction.

4️⃣ Reduced risk of cloning, fraud, and identity theft.

5️⃣ Multi-layered security features, secure user authentication, and continuous security updates.

❎ Disadvantage of eSIM

1️⃣ Inconvenience for frequent device switchers due to a more complex activation process compared to traditional SIM cards.
